Introduction
HUMPs are installed to reduce vehicle speed in order to prevent traffic accidents. We often see HUMPs installed to crosswalks. However, it is not uncommon for these HUMPs to be the cause of accidents.
Witnessed the moment of the accident
On long straight roads, excessive speeding of vehicles is frequently observed. During our field research two years ago, we witnessed an accident in which a truck rear-ended a motorcycle that had slowed down before the HUMP. This happened in the daytime.
Night time
At night, the presence of the HUMP is very dangerous.
By setting up solar road studs in front of the HUMP, drivers can see its location from a distance and be alerted. This is an easy measure to take, and I hope they will implement it.
